Michael Pirkowski, MD
Dr. Pirkowski was raised in northern New Jersey and received his bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame. He earned his medical degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, and completed his residency in radiation oncology at the Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C., where he also served as chief resident. Dr. Pirkowski pursued additional specialty training in intraoperative radiation oncology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and in hyperthermia at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology in St. Louis, Missouri.

After training, Dr. Pirkowski remained on staff for one year at Georgetown as the clinical director of the intraoperative radiation oncology program. During that time, Dr. Pirkowski also invented a special diaphragmatic applicator for treatment of ovarian cancer. He relocated to central Florida in 1991.

Dr. Pirkowski has received specialized training in prostate brachytherapy at the Northwest Tumor Institute in Seattle, Washington, in vascular brachytherapy for the prevention of arterial restenosis, and in Gamma Knife Radiosurgery at the University of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Pirkowski is a past-president of the West Volusia section of the American Cancer Society. He is board certified in radiation oncology.
