Burkhard Weppelmann, MD

Dr. Weppelmann is a native of Germany. He attended medical school at the University of Hamburg and the Medical University of Luebeck, with graduation in 1973. After completing a rotating internship at the County Hospitals of Bad Segeberg and Oldenburg and a doctoral thesis on Down Syndrome at the Institute of Human Genetics at the University of Kiel, he served a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the County Hospital of Bad Segeberg and the University Hospital of Luebeck. He became board certified in obstetrics and gynecology in 1981.
In 1981, Dr. Weppelmann relocated to the United States for fellowship training in gynecologic oncology at the University of Cincinnati and the Jewish Hospital of Cincinnati. Thereafter, Dr. Weppelmann performed a second residency in radiation oncology at the University of Alabama in Birmingham.
Dr. Weppelmann served as an assistant professor and associated clinical scientist at the Comprehensive Cancer Center of the University of Alabama until moving to Orlando in 1990.
He has published numerous research articles and textbook chapters on radiation oncology. He also has received specialized training in prostate brachytherapy at the Northwest Tumor Institute in Seattle, Washington, and in Gamma Knife Radiosurgery at the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Weppelmann is board certified in radiation oncology.
