I am a native of Germany. I attended Medical School at the University of Hamburg and the Medical University of Luebeck with graduation in 1973. After completing a rotating internship at the County Hospitals of Bad Segeberg and Oldenburg and a doctoral thesis on Down Syndrome at the Institute of Human Genetics at the University of Kiel, I underwent residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the County Hospital of Bad Segeberg and the University Hospital of Luebeck with Board Certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1981. I came to the U.S. in 1981 and completed fellowship training in Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Cincinnati and the Jewish Hospital of Cincinnati. After completing a second residency in Radiation Oncology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham with Board Certification in 1986, I served as Assistant Professor and associated scientist at the Comprehensive Cancer Care Center of the University of Alabama until my move to Orlando in 1990. From 1990 to 1995, I practiced Radiation Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Orlando Regional Medical Center. Since 1995, I am Attending Radiation Oncologist at Florida Hospital, practicing at Florida Hospital Orlando and Altamonte. I have published many research articles on Radiation Oncology and have written several contributions to textbooks. I have received special training in radioactive prostate seed implants at the Northwest Tumor Institute in Seattle, Washington under Dr. Blasko and Dr. Ragde. Burkhard Weppelmann, MD Gary R.
